Facebook Testing YouTube-Like Video Section for Pages

Facebook is testing a new Video section design for Facebook Pages, which is reportedly planned for a rollout in the coming weeks.
According to Techcrunch, Facebook is testing the new Videos section design only on a few Pages for now, and that it appears similar to the YouTube channels interface, complete with featured videos and playlists. The new design and features are currently visible on ABC News' Page.
The revamped videos section visible on ABC News' Page shows a 'Featured Video' displayed extra-large on top with likes, comments and views, while below are the Playlists and All Videos sections with thumbnails, titles, video length, likes, and views. In the current layout for Pages, only a Video list is visible, with a thumbnail and video length seen for each video.
The report notes that Facebook Pages will get the new design automatically, and if Page owners don't select a Featured Video or make Playlists, then their Videos will just show up in a chronological list.
The social networking giant appears to be making some serious efforts to make good use of videos, as earlier this month too, Facebook's business unit had announced that the eligible video mobile app-install ads will now play automatically in the News Feed, a feature that will help marketers spread the word even more.
"As more and more people upload, share and discover video on Facebook, marketers are realising the value of video at every stage of the buying cycle, from awareness to conversion," noted the company in a blog post.
What this also means for users is that the Facebook app will consume more data as any 'eligible' app-install advertisement video will start playing automatically while scrolling through News Feed in Facebook apps on mobile.

Ten Games We are Looking Forward to the Most in 2015

While 2014 has been a largely disappointing year in games - some of the big releases of the year, like Assassin's Creed: Unity, were filled with bugs while other anticipated titles seeing their release dates pushed to 2015. However, then year wasn't a total write-off and we've already listed the games we enjoyed the most this year. Having said that, we have high expectations from 2015, and here are the 10 titles we are looking forward to the most.
1. Batman: Arkham Knight
Batman: Arkham Knight is the first next-gen outing of everyone's favourite superhero. The Arkham series has been consistently good, with combat in particular being a delight, and hopes are high for this game too. And while the last three games featured a solid narrative and a host of villains from the comics, this entry features the Batmobile and a new antagonist known as the Arkham Knight.

However we're most interested in the simple pleasures it promises such as being able to strike fear into the hearts of common criminals just before swooping down to end their crime spree in a style befitting the caped crusader.
Expected date of release: Summer 2015
2. No Man's Sky
No Man's Sky has you going where every sci-fi loving fan has gone before - space. This time however you're exploring its depths minus any heavy-handed direction, trying-too-hard-to-be witty sayings, or god rays much like the slew of sci-fi movies we've been treated to. In their place is a gorgeous galaxy that has you exploring planets galore, each of which has its own unique environment and creatures.
The scale is immense and from partaking in space battles to diving into the very depths of a planet's seas, there's a lot to do. There's a welcome focus on exploration rather than narrative. With the game's many planets being procedurally generated much like FTL: Faster Than Light, expect a different play-through every time.
Expected date of release: PS4 in June, followed by the PC.
3. Rogue Star
Expected to launch in early-2015, this iPad game will bring the joy of space exploration titles to tablets. The genre is seeing a bit of a revival thanks to games like Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous, but if you're looking for a game that mixes combat, smuggling, mining, and the simple joy of flying between planets, then Rogue Star sounds like a good pick for mobile gamers.

Expected date of release: Early 2015
4. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Unlike other franchises that have yearly releases, Sony's flagship series has been on quite the hiatus. The last time we regaled in the adventures of everyone's favourite male Lara Croft, Nathan Drake was on the PS Vita with Uncharted: Golden Abyss. This was followed by the spin-off card game Uncharted: Fight for Fortune, but we've seen very little else.

That was of course until this year's PlayStation Experience that showed off a generous amount of gameplay featuring exotic locales, stealth mechanics, and satisfying melee combat. It's looking spectacular to say the least.
Expected date of release: Sometime in 2015
5. Halo 5: Guardians
The Halo series is synonymous with the Xbox. While we got a collection of the series stalwart Master Chief's greatest hits with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, there's been very little else. With Halo 4, new developers 343 Industries had proved that they could make a very proficient game, but it felt a little flat, so there's a lot of attention being given now to Halo 5: Guardians.

With a rather promising multiplayer beta going on, we can't say we're not interested to see how this sci-fi first person shooter shapes up. Expect to be blasting through hordes of aliens late in 2015.
Expected date of release: Late 2015
6. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
A world bigger than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Check. An emphasis on shaping the aforementioned world around you by the choices you make? Check. Almost a hundred hours of things to do? Check. There's very little reason not to be piqued about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - even more so if you're a fan of role-playing games. Throw in improved combat and an array of fantastical beasts to battle against and May can't come soon enough.

Expected date of release: May 2015
7. Submerged
We don't know too much about the upcoming iOS game Submerged, but the Unreal Engine 4 powered visuals are amazing. In the game, you have to explore an ancient city, to try and find supplies in a simple fishing boat, and scale the ruined buildings. Not much is known about the gameplay yet, but developer Uppercut has some good titles in their backlog already so we're quite excited. The game is expected sometime in 2015 and if this is what mobile games are starting to look like now, then we are officially living in the future.
Expected date of release: Sometime in 2015
8. Bloodborne
Bloodborne is not for the faint-hearted. Borrowing a page or two hundred from many a goth fantasy, you're thrown into Yharnam City, it's a sinister place wrapped with Lovecraftian horrors and beasts that haunt your every move. Fear not however, you aren't left defenceless. With swords and guns aplenty you have most of what you need to get by.
Don't expect it to be easy considering that it's made by the creators of Dark Souls. The combat is quicker with an emphasis on attacking moves compared to the Souls' series that had a more balanced approach to the proceedings.
Expected date of release: March 2015 for the PS4
9. Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain
This year's Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes gave us a taste of what to expect from the genius that is series creator Hideo Kojima. However with a criminally short duration of its main campaign, we were left wanting more. We can't wait to get back into the boots and eye-patched guise of soldier of fortune, Big Boss to sneak and skulk our way across a myriad of interesting vistas all while soaking in a story that's got more twists and turns than your daily soap opera.
phantom_pain.jpg
Expected date of release: Mid-2015
10. Runescape Legends
This year, one of the games we loved the most was Hearthstone, a competitive card game with characters set in
Blizzard's World of Warcraft. Runescape - which first released in 2001 - is an even older massively multiplayer roleplaying game, but over the years it had to settle for playing second fiddle to Blizzard's behemoth. After the unexpected surprise of Hearthstone, Runescape is trying to play catch up yet again, but the first few teasers we've seen for Runescape Legends looks similar.
runescape_game.jpg
We loved Hearthstone, and if more games of this genre come out with the same focus on art as well as gameplay, then we're certainly looking forward to it.
Expected date of release: Sometime in 2015
Of course there are plenty of other big games that have already been announced for a 2015 release. So tell us which game you are looking forward to the most, via the comments.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Roadmap for Samsung Phones Revealed

samsung_galaxy_alpha_youtube_video_screenshot.jpg
While earlier this month Samsung Galaxy S5 started receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in some regions, a new page on the Samsung Finland website has revealed a few more devices that are in line. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update list also includes couple of devices that were launched back in 2012.
First in line for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is the Galaxy Note 4, which Samsung already teased in October. The flagship phablet's predecessor, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is also scheduled for the update.
Interestingly, while the page (via GSMArena) shows the Galaxy S5 Mini to be in line for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, it shows "no information" for its bigger version, the Samsung Galaxy S5. However, the update for the Galaxy S5 has reportedly already rolling out in some regions, and the device also falls under the South Korean smartphone maker's two years or two major updates (whichever comes first) criteria for eligibility.
Talking about Samsung's update eligibility criteria, the page also surprisingly shows Galaxy Note II also scheduled for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. It is worth mentioning that the device was launched in September 2012 and has crossed its two years. The metal-clad Galaxy Alpha and the last year's flagship Galaxy S4 are also in the list of devices due for updates on the Samsung Finland site.
Last month, sources close to Samsung also confirmed the Galaxy S4 would be receiving the update early next year, though the timeline may change. Android 5.0 Lollipop will notably be the third major update for the handset, after Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat, which puts it outside of the firm's update criteria.

Nokia N1 Android Tablet's Launch Date Confirmed

The "first Nokia-branded Android tablet" - the Nokia N1 - has been now officially confirmed to launch on January 7 in Beijing, China.
The Finnish firm made the official announcement on Thursday, confirming earlier reports on its account on the Chinese social network Weibo.
The Nokia N1 was first unveiled in November. Nokia, during the unveiling, had said that the device will first launch in China in Q1 2015 with a brand-licensing agreement extending to an OEM partner (Foxconn) that will manufacture, distribute, and sell the tablet. The Nokia N1 will cost $249 (roughly Rs. 15,400) before taxes, and will be made available in other markets globally, added Nokia.
The Nokia N1 is the company's first mobile product after the Microsoft acquisition, which forces the Finnish company to no longer use the Nokia brand on smartphones till Q4 2016, and on feature phones for 10 years. Though to bypass the restriction, Nokia may very well launch a smartphone under a different brand.
On the specifications front, the Nokia N1 features a 7.9-inch (2048x1536 pixel) IPS LED-backlit display protected by Gorilla Glass 3; a 64-bit 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor (4 cores, 4 threads) coupled with a PowerVR G6430 GPU; 2GB of LPDDR3 (800MHz) RAM; 32GB of inbuilt storage (non-expandable); an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera; a 5-megapixel fixed focus camera; 5300mAh battery, and the predictive Nokia Z Launcher interface on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Connectivity options on Nokia N1 include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/n/ac with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB with reversible Type-C connector, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

HTC Desire Eye Selfie Smartphone Reportedly Available at Rs. 35,990

htc_desire_eye.jpg
The HTC Desire Eye pricing for India has been tipped at Rs. 35,990 on Wednesday by a Mumbai-based retailer, who also claimed the smartphone is now available, ahead of an official announcement by the company.
In October, during the unveiling of the HTC Desire Eye in India, the company had not announced the price and said that the device will release in late November exclusively on Amazon India. This has not happened as yet, and the HTC India website still lists it as 'Coming soon'.
NDTV Gadgets was also told of the availability of the Desire Eye at a similar price in New Delhi by another established retailer.
The HTC Desire Eye is a selfie-focused smartphone that boasts of a front-facing camera with the same treatment as the rear camera. Both feature 13-megapixel sensors, and are both accompanied by dual-LED flash. To put the Desire Eye's purported price in perspective, the HTC One (M8 Eye) was launched in October at Rs. 38,990.
Both the front-facing and rear cameras can shoot 1080p@30fps videos. While the rear camera features an f/2.0 aperture and a 28mm lens, the front-facing camera features an f/2.2 aperture with a 20mm lens.
Certain camera features like Split Capture, Crop-Me-In and others are also available on the HTC Desire Eye. While the Split Capture divides the image 50/50 between front and rear cameras, the Crop-Me-In feature crops the user's image and superimposes it on the image shot by the rear camera.
HTC Desire Eye also features an IPX7 rating, designed to resist immersion in water up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. As for other specifications, the HTC Desire Eye boasts of a 5.2-inch full-HD LCD display; Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor; 2GB of RAM; 16GB of inbuilt storage expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB), and a 2400mAh Li-Po battery. Front-facing stereo speakers powered by HTC BoomSound technology are also onboard the handset. It measures in at 151.7x73.8x8.5mm.
